Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill
was born on November 30, 1874 at Blenheim Palace,
near Woodstock in Oxfordshire,

Winston was a descendant of
the first famous member of the Churchill family: John Churchill, 1st
Duke of Marlborough (whose father was also a "Sir Winston Churchill").
Winston's politician father, Lord Randolph Churchill, was the third son
of the 7th Duke of Marlborough; Winston's mother was Lady Randolph
Churchill (née Jeanette "Jennie" Jerome) of Brooklyn, New York,
daughter of American millionaire Leonard Jerome.
As per tradition, Churchill spent much of his childhood at boarding
schools, rarely visited by his mother, whom he worshipped, despite his
letters begging her to either come or let his father let him come home.
He had a distant relationship with his father, despite keenly following
his father's career.

Aged six....A statesman in the making...
